I really wish I could say “I
did it in 90 days”, but…. I didn’t. My first attempt at p90x occurred in
October 2011. I was really good for about three weeks then my workouts went
from six a week to five… four… three… two… none. I have just made it to day 30
and I am doing a much better job at staying motivated this time so I wanted to
share what I am doing differently this time:
KEEP TRACK OF YOUR WORKOUTS!
My first time through I just kept track of which workout I needed to do next. I
did not keep track of what I had already accomplished! This time around I
started by writing 90 days down so that I would know how far I have gone and
how far I still needed to go. Then, I wrote down the workouts as I did them on
my wall calendar. It seems really simple but it has really helped me out.
This is what my calendar looks like... I've made it to day 30!! One-third COMPLETE!
FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY! When I
started p90x the second time a classmate was starting it at the same time, so
we held each other accountable. This really helped me in the beginning when I
was struggling to stay motivated… I knew I had to do the workouts because she
would ask me about it the next day! If you don’t have a workout buddy, this is
where I can help you!
Make exercise FUN!
Finally… TREAT YO SELF. Last
year on Parks and Recreation they talked about “Treat Yo Self” day. Basically,
you indulge without worrying about the cost. I am a student so this is not
completely realistic for me, but ever since I saw this episode I have wanted to
have a reason to have a “treat my self” day and I think a p90x grad deserves a
Treat Yo Self day. So when I finish p90x (not if but when… it is all about your
mindset!) my Treat Yo Self day will likely consist of the following:
Haircut
Massages
Mani-Pedi
Wine
Chocolate.... Shakeology :)
What will your Treat Yo Self
day consist of?
